Original Landscape Oil Painting "Tetons and Sage at Sunset" by Arkansas Artist Beth Lenderman

"Tetons and Sage at Sunset" - 16" x 20" - original oil painting on gesso board - AVAILABLE

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to relax....just being. Being present. Taking in the moment, the beauty all around me. This is the Teton Mountain Range near Jackson, Wyoming...one of my favorite places on Earth. I wish you could smell the sage in the air. It was intoxicating. My favorite part of this scene is that last little hint of sun on the left peak. To just be there....one of my favorite ways to relax.⁣

God's Word

One of the things I enjoy about my commissioned paintings is working with the person who commissions it either for themselves or for a gift. And one of my favorite things to ask them is what is their favorite Bible verse. I always write the verse on the canvas before I ever paint on the canvas. And while I'm painting, I pray this verse for the person who will receive the painting. Even though the verse will be covered with paint, it will always be there. It's a wonderful way to have God's Word always in their home, and I am privileged to be a part of that :)

Here is the verse and sketch of my latest Sydney painting.

Have a blessed day!

They left one by one....

11x14

oil with knife on canvas board

Worked on this painting a few weeks back. I love how it turned out. Started as this.....

I could see the faces in the middle and upper right. Something about it struck me as a woman who looked lonely, sad, and desperate, and it reminded me of John 8:7-9 and how that woman may have felt. I painted her in, then saw Jesus right behind her. To the back of her are all her accusers who are dropping their stones. This painting has a powerful message.

Oklahoma Contemporary Artist Beth Lenderman "Abstract"

"Abstract"

16x16

oil on canvas with knife

This is a commissioned painting that was delivered to the recipient today who loves it! She even showed me where she is going to hang it....right in her entryway!

The painting was commissioned as a gift and began with the recipient's favorite scripture, color ideas, and my idea of creating a geometric shape that reflected the owner's personality in conjunction with the scripture.

Jeremiah 29:11 talks about the Lord's plans....how they give us a future and a hope.

The spiral was chosen because it represents energy and a path....a journey.

Working closely with the recipient, we chose colors and motion and energy that you see in the final painting above.

I would love for you to commission a painting. It's a wonderful process! Please email me at bethlendermanfineart@gmail.com.

Blessings!

The New Neighbors

oil on gallery wrapped canvas

24x30

Recently I have been exploring lighthouses in my paintings. Lighthouses are places and objects I use to love dearly but over time I grew tired of them because I started collecting them and collected so many that they lost their allure and uniqueness to me. However, as I've been exploring objects/scenes/places I want to paint, I decided to revisit these and I have felt energized. So maybe I'm on the right track!

This painting depicts just a portion of the lighthouse...enough to see the cool lens, the walkway around it, and eggs in a nest where birds made a home in the shelter of the cutout.

If interested in this painting, please e-mail me at bethlendermanfineart@gmail.com. I would love to visit with you about this. And I also do commissions!

Artist's Bio

I was born into a family of artists. My dad loved drawing and painting. My oldest sister went to college on an art scholarship. My middle sister expresses her artistic talent through decorating her home beautifully. And my mom can doodle a mean stick bunny rabbit.

My dad encouraged my artistic talent at an early age and when I was in 5th grade, I took oil painting lessons at the local Rec Center in Sherwood, Arkansas. I painted a few paintings and then for whatever reason, I put down my paintbrush. I then revisited my artistic interests again taking art class in high school encompassing all sorts of medium from pencil drawings to pen and ink to pastels to watercolor to ceramics. In college, I briefly entertained the notion of becoming an art teacher but decided against it when I thought about how difficult it would be to get a job in that field after I graduated. However, I fed my artistic hunger by working at the Art Library at the University of Kentucky where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English.

I didn’t pursue art again for several years. I had children….my two greatest creations. And when they were young, I picked up my paintbrush again and this time painted a panoramic, four-walled mural in the Sunday school classroom of First United Methodist Church in Prescott, Arkansas, where my husband was a pastor. I worked long hours but never tired. You would think I had some inclination that maybe THIS is what I was meant to do, but I took a major detour.

After both my children were old enough to attend school, I pursued my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I knew it would be a stable job and I would be able to help people. But this was still not my passion, which I will address over time in my blog.

I’m not sure how I finally got back into art but recent events in my life have fallen into too neat of an arrangement for it to be pure coincidence. I have prayed. I have read. I have asked questions and received answers. All leading me to what I should have done a long time ago.

I guess my best explanation is….it’s a God thing.

I am drawn to color….vibrant color…..bordering on Fauvism. I like looking at things from different angles, different perspectives, discovering the unnoticed and finding something worth noticing and drawing attention to that. I’ve not yet figured out exactly what my niche will be, but through prayer seeking God’s direction, I’m sure He will reveal it to me. He has been wooing me back to this throughout my entire life.

I invite you to join me on this journey.
